    another thing what if i just get a UV steralizer? will that cut my losses?

    UV sterrilizers can get rid of good things as well as the bad, deffinately not meant to be left on all the time.

    Why not just buy a bucket of salt and make your own? That solves the problem and takes the risk out of it. Using ocean water that has not been treated will potentially add all kinds of unwanted things such as bacterias and parasites, not mention oil's from boats etc.

    ya i think that ima stop getting ocean water. my one thing is that ocean water is already made/free and has all the right chemistry with out the trial and error of testing the salinity but you all are right...the risks out weigh the benefits and the loss of creatures would make me very sad

    tropic marin salt claims to be identical to seawater, and u wont have all the risks. :)

    sweeet ima start mixing my own asap...my friend told me that the ph varies at the beach and corals wont really be to effected as long as its fast moving water, but he said fish will not be able to take it as in the wild they are able to swim to more desirable water quality.
