I am acclimating my first fish in my new 55g and I was wondering if having the
powerhead during the night of the acclimation process will have an adverse effect on the
    fish.

Its a sicce voyager 4 and the fish is a raccoon butterfly (Ive got a 220g for when
he out grows) he's about the size of a dollar coin.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
It's been suggested that fish like butterflies come in already in a malnourished state, they then exert too many calories swimming against the strong currents in most modern tanks. With that said, if you have a skimmer to provide adequate oxygenation than I see no reason to not shut off the flow at night for the acclimation period. A long as filtration pumps and skimmer are running you should be fine.
