I saw on Ericd's post "Hello from NC" a picture of what he called a pipe organ coral. I looked it up on google and found the one he has. It looks like daisys. Here is my question though. I know there are many types of different coral that are all called the same but still slightly different. If you have a picture of pipe organ coral that you are willing to post I would like to see different varieties please?!? Post them for me if you don't mind.

    Thanks in advance.;D

I've never owned one, but here's what I was able to find online:

And a skeleton, which for its ornate and unique appearance is often used in jewelry making.

    Hope this addressed your question.

Hey Cannedmulder thanks for the post. I love pipe organs:) They are a great coral(no need to worry about them overgrowing other corals). I disagree with the others that say it is a hard coral to keep(trust me, if I can keep it alive anyone can:cheesy:)
IME with pipe's the biggest problem I've seen is they are easily overgrown with algae causing the polyps to stay closed. They are also very fragile and need to be handled very carefully. I place mine in the sandbed to keep them from being knocked off their perch and broken in two(oops, found out this one the hard way).

I think the misconception of them being hard to keep comes from the simple fact that they grow very slowly. This does not mean they are not doing well, IMO.
If you are thinking of purchasing one I'd say go for it (a great coral to add to your tank). I would strongly recommend a f/w dip before adding to display because they have a lot of nooks and crannies where nasty hitch-hikers can sneak into your display

    Here'some pics of 2 sp. I have

This was my pipe organ, it has since passed due to algae take over a few years back.

They are great corals. I would love to get another but...its hard to find them these days.

Do people think they are so hard like ericd says because of the algae overgrowth or what other complications can they have. Googling it it doesn't seem so hard!

Clove polyps are similar to the organs and easy to keep. There are alot of different/cool varieties. Here are a few examples.
