    That should work. I just wonder what the PAR would be like though. Obviously SPS were kept before all this new lighting was available though.

    Yeah. I'll start off with some zoas and if they do well I'll throw in some monti.

    haha i think you would be getting ahead of yourself, dont go straight to a sps from a zoa. get an lps or something first then try sps.

    on my 5 gallon tank i have 19 watts of high powered led's i would guess you would need about half that because your tanks half as big.

    With lighting it isn't about the wattage of lighting but the PAR value at different depths of the tank. That is why a lot of people prefer the breeder style tanks over regular tanks.

    i am aware, but i dont believe a desktop lamp with a flourescant light will grow sps. i think it will barely light the tank. maybe grow a couple softies. i would just bite the bullet and buy a par30 bulb for your lamp.

    If the bulb is the right color temperature, I think a power compact bulb (like the one linked previously) would grow coral quite well in a 2.5g tank.
