Man I wish my PetCo would discount "near dead" stuff. They told me if they sold anything at discount, they would not get reimbursed from corp.

My PetCo just started setting their saltwater tanks back up after about a year and a half of only fresh. They said that they were having unexplained deaths in all of their saltwater tanks. I wonder how that happened? ::)

Well, we'll see how it goes :)

Wow, nice. How do you get them to lower the price? I am looking a mushroom rock at ours with about 20 shrooms on it. A few have been getting white so I assume they are to far gone but can try and some the others? Tanks

Remove the coral and put it on a frag than keep the plants on the rock. The Xenia will grow back even under the plant light.

I am the aquatics specialist at one of the new Petco store, in North Myrtle Beach, SC. We are suppose to sell certain corals and anemones. The only problem is, one of our tanks only has 2 t5 bulbs. The other is standard LED lighting. Not enough light for most of what we are suppose to sell. I never ordered corals for that reason, just condi anemones. Only because they sell quick.

That is most likely the reason they were dying when you got them. Good save though.

After being open for 90 days, Petco decided to lay me of because I was part time and they weren't getting enough business to pay me. The bad thing is, the full time aquatics person that is still there has not one clue about aquatics.

Petco is one of those greedy companies that care more about making money than anything else. That is why there is usually only 3 people in the store at any given time. The average store makes between 70-90K each week, but can't afford to pay for employees who care about what they do. That is how they make billions a year in profits.

That's a shame, I went to my local one as well and their tanks looked REALLY bad, the lights weren't even on and aiptasia was all over the frags.

Mollies are the only thing I buy from petco. 99 cents with a pals card lol. Any illness they may have gets killed when I salt acclimate them so I can rescue some pretty bad specimens sometimes.
