    That's an inane amount of carbon, and I'd be very skeptical to attempt this.

    1 cup for every 100 gallons or so is a typical usage of GAC.

    That's how much the API carbon instructs me to add. I've read that the first 48 hours is the strongest the carbon will pull out everything.

    BRS told me my 40 gallon needed 4 tablespoons per month.

    May depend on the brand, however that does seem excessive. I use Hydrocarbon II which says to do 1 cup per 100 as well IIRC.

    currently dosing as per BRS....... lets see, but yes ill increase my gfo to 3tsb from 2 for my 20g

    iv applied the 6% solution on 1 of the rock, placed it out for 3mints, then placed it back in the tank... im seeind bubbles coming out... is that ok? i treated using cotton..

    When I used peroxide, the bubbling was normal. I used it on a rock (outside of the tank) and used a cotton Qtip to apply it. It was very effective in getting rid of the algae. I read a lot about the method before I tried it. I would be so apprehensive to dose a whole tank with it though......
