I have a powder blue tang and today I noticed that right where his frontal fins connect to his side, there is redness around that area. Does anyone know what this is, the redness does not go outside of this are, just exactly where the fins meet on both sides.

It would be very hard to speculate what that might be. Just make sure you water perimeters are good and the fish continues to eat. If it grows or it stops eating than there might be a problem

on the fins? did you check for ammonia?
Odd one... only thing that even rang a bell about redness was ammonia burn but thats not usually around the fins

do you have anything in the tank that could sting it?

    is a pic possible?

It could beseverl things, depending on how exactly the redness looks.
