Did some sump maintenance last week to clean up detritus, clean salt spray, residual kalk build up, trim my chaeto, etc.

Harvested more than a basketball sized chunk of chaeto and that was only half of what was in the refugium:

Next "project" is to clean detritus from the bottom of my overflows. Been sort of avoiding that one :-/

I think it was an Abita Amber. I was trying to give the mound of chaeto some reference and I had just poured myself a beer so there you have it! Beer makes all forms of tank maintenance tolerable....even sump cleaning. Plus the phrase on the pint glass was quite ironic since sump maintenance is about as far from "out of control" as one can possibly get. xD

Local reefer was SUPER generous and gave me a monti cap colony. Currently on the sand bed acclimating to the lighting. Going to mount it when I can decide where after a few days.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
That will be a very nice addition with your other corals.

The glass is perfect by the way. :)

How long would you acclimate it at lower levels? I plan on placing it about 3/4 from the bottom. It's not on a plug so moving it up in stages will be difficult. It came from a tank with Reef Radiance LED units and it was near the bottom. For that reason, I don't want to shock it by moving it up too soon. My reefbreeder is set to 100/100 for a short time in the middle of the light schedule.

I am really cautious about acclimation, I like roughly 2 weeks, unless it came from LED. For a Montipora I would be extra careful. All your other corals are fine with that PAR. The coral looks really nice and healthy in the image.

My Red Hawk fish was so cool, I really like them.
