    i was trying to get a aligator gar but there ilegal in california i find out >_> seems like every thing here that is cool and fun is ilegal :-[

    I had an alligator gar for a long time. I am surprised they are not extinct, it would take three hours of real effort before the gar would finally connect with one of the dozen goldfish.

    Cool looking fish though. The big teeth and ominous look always had people asking questions.

    You will be lucky to still have plants in the future. Cichlids tear apart the gravel and eat plants. That's my experience anyways.

    +1 to this, i couldnt have anything plant like in my tank with my african cichlids. they would tear it up. just my experience however. every fish is different.
