Painting back of Tank

I don't think painting the back of your tang would be a good idea. First of all, the fish would probably die, as paint on his skin is a bad thing. Next, if he's swimming to the left, he'd be yellow, and if to the right, he'd be black. That's not good either.

Leave your tangs alone.

Gloss black or flat black?

Gloss, flat, I don't think it matters much.
After 6 months, most mof mine is purple/lavender anyway!- Corralline growth on the inside!

I"ve seen Blue, black. I used a black spray paint, LIke the previous posts said. You could paint a kind of uderwater looking up scene, with blues brigther near the top.
