I know what you mean with he "floating canopy". I saw you and Costie Reefer talking about that. I like the idea.

What drawing program do you use? I am a big fan of Google Sketchup.

I'm using Blender 3d. It is a 3d animation software, completely free as well. I use it for school projects, work, planning. Very useful for a lot of things. Turns a lot of heads when I use it for a class project.

I went to the home depot for mine. They have stain now that's 2 in one. It's great stuff I used on mine, it has the stain in the polyurethane with many colors to chose from. I coat and done, but you can lightly sand with steel wool and add another thin coat. They have high glosses to satins as well to chose from. I am very happy with it and picked a darker cherry.

The 2 in one is by minwax btw! One small can (pint) was more than enough for my 55 gal. stand! YW!

If you use the wainscoting from HD make sure you sand it before you stain it. My first attempt at building a stand for my 10g didn't come out all that well when I stained it, that's why I went with paint on my 40B build.
