    I saw something at LFS yesterday that i had not seen before, it was a ozone generating air pump designed to be connected to the air line on venturi skimmer. what would be the advantage of this?

    The advantage is probably debatable Rdharris

    basically Ozone or O3 is super saturated Oxygen and its the smell that we often associate with the sea side

    the processing of waste/ nutrients via oxidisation is the target of using Ozone
    it is a method of increasing the body of water ORP (Oxydisation Reduction Potential)

    which is a figure in millivolts that indicates how much activity is going towards breaking down and thus making inert these nurtients in the body of water
