I live on the Gulf Coast, and have always woundered if I could keep an oyster in my tank..??
One out of the Gulf.. Or if I want even to..??
I think they mostly bury themselves in the sand..
I add alot of stuff for filter feeders, tank is 8 months old..
    Anyone have any info..?

    Thanks, Larry

depends on the temp of the water in the gulf for long term success. also id quarantine it for some time because who knows what/if it has any diseases or anything. you dont wanna jeopardize your entire tank over an oyster.

Good idea on the quarantine ..
I don't want to mess up my main tank..

I know in the summer our waters get 78+..
But cooler in the winter.. I may put one in a 5 gal. just to see..

    Thanks, Larry

I'd quarantine everything as well, esspecially from the wild. The risk it just too great! Hey, plant a seed in that oyster & start growning pearls. lol... ;D That's pretty much how they get pearls now a days.
