    It is clean of debris like rocks and stuff and dense enough to handle flow well and it just looks good. It is also fair priced for what it is.

    Do you feel its small enough to house the beneficial bacterias to in essence become live?

    Absolutely. Any media will do that. It will work great and give you plenty high surface area.

    +1 for reef flakes. Super awesome substrate. Consistent size, heavy enough to handle flow and appealing to look at. And I think I actually over bought. Looking in the tank and I have a few spots that are 2-3" but mostly 1 1/2".

    What about mixing? Live sand? Maybe someone sells live reef flakes?
