So I've had 2 blue/gree chromis come up dead over the course of three weeks. Each I've found with a chunk bit out. The size of the chunk is consistent. I already know what the culprit is but I want some input from others. My stocking list is as follows:

    • (2) B&W Ocellaris clownfish
    • (2) Banggai Cardinalfish
    • (1) Engineering Goby
    • (5) Blue/Green Chromis
    • (1) Vlamingi Tang
    • (1) Sohal Tang
    • (1) Flame Angel
    • (1) Yellow Clown Goby
    • (1) Hi Fin Goby
    • (1) Magnificent Foxface

I'll start... Engineer Goby. It's the only actual predator you have, and even violent territorial disputes rarely do more harm than torn fins and missing scales.

Appreciate the reply. Don't think it's my goby. He's been great and never even crossed my mind as a predator.

    I think it's my sohal.

Wow, never heard of that one. Always thought tangs were only aggressive toward other similar tangs.

Guess it makes more sense, though; the Pholidichthys leucotaenia will usually finish off his kill.

My thought was indeed the Engineer, but after reading about the Tangs, man once they get big they can turn into killing machines. I read threads of where the Sohal killed every fish in the tank.

Engineering goby is my vote. I literally watched him grab my chromis into his area and killed him. Needless to say he was removed. My sohal was over 12" and I never had an issue with him but I'm sure if they were to bite it would be fatal.
