According to API, 214.8ppm KH is equal to 12 dKH, so I'd put it at ~18 or 19 dKH.

Is that a dip-strip test kit? If so they are anecdotal at best.

Looks like a value of 300ppm would be 6 meq/L (quite high) or 15 dKh. But the problem there is that if it is a dip-stip test kit - it could very well be off by several units and your actual values may be closer to ideal.

As for the IO RC salt - they recommend lower values so that you can make more saltwater per box. You actually get well under 200 gallons of 1.026 water out of a 200 gallon IO RC box. This is all marketing and profit gain stuff for those corporate business types. They would have your SG at more like 1.023 mixing at their recommended ratio which would give you about those values for mag/calcium that you listed as the IO RC "ideal" values.

But we still don't know (and it seems that you may not know either) what the mag/calcium values you have in the tank at present actually are. This would have a major impact on the health of any coral or invert in your system.

I'm not 100% on that, in the API Reef test kit it puts 214.8ppm KH at 12 dKH, she could have just read it wrong, I doubt many test kits would say that's a good #.

Agree 100% that it could just have been read wrong - one of the primary reasons these types of tests are not very reliable. Very easy to misread/misinterpret the values with strip tests and graduated color charts.
Titration/Profi reactions are far more accurate and precise.

If you can swing the cash I would def. go with Salifert or Red Sea Test kits - they are renowned for ease of use and extreme accuracy. The resolution of the Saliftert is far superior to many other IME.
