ya, he was pulling on one of the polyps when I snatched him out. it doesn't take much to kill coral tissue.

I'm not even sure what a Polyclad worm is, but I don't think I've seen one!

** Edit- just looked it up- nope, never seen one, not even a small one.
I did see a larger bristle once though.

    NO white fungus.

I suppose it can be or is something chomping on it, just havene't figured out what yet.
I do look at night sometimes as well.

    Thanks everyone, the mystery continues.....

Hello Todd! I've had this problem many times before with Euphyllia species. I only have one green frogspawn left, that is growing fantastically. However, that one actually also started to lose 2 heads when i just put it in. I had no idea what to do, but i began to feed it, and made sure to check on it all the time. Can you tell a little more in detail about how the heads fall off? Is it getting slimey and then falling off, or are the tentacles not inflated anymore, and just rips themselves apart? I have had the same problem just recently with a torch.

It doesn't seem to expand like it used to anymore, and a bit more is missing now.

It's about 3in. off the bottom on some rock- where it's been for months.

I also have some large hammers- look almost the same don't they? One is even on the bottom, and is full and looks great.

    Weird- it's my DT Gremlin!

I lost my yellow tipped one, got covered in a brown slime. Im guessing a bacterial infection :(. It was about 20cm away from my other euphyillia but im sketching out the infection will spread to it, though no sign of this yet.

So youre saying its slowly stabilizing? Hope it pulls through...

    Thanks Swiss,

Nope it's about the same and doesn't expand quite like it did before.

Keep an eye out for bristle worms todd. I've removed a lot from my DT and my extension is returning. I'm glad it wasn't my flame angel ;)

Thanks, I've only even seen a bristle once in my tank.

If it's a bristle, I'd think theyd eat my hammers also?

I moved it upwards about 7 in., I hope it hangs in and gets full again.
