    puffers will do that to your nitrate levels. keeping up with the nitrate levels is damn near impossible. I have 3 puffers and mine is at around 50+ generally.

    Isn't a daily water change over kill? Don't you actually remove a lot of the beneficial bacteria by doing this?

    The bacteria is on the rock and sand etc. Water changes aren't going to take away much of it - definitely not enough to do harm.
