Nigerian money scam

I am sure most of you would be familiar with the subject and in fact will have seen one or more of these emails.

Well, I seem to get a lot of them so I thought I would play along for a while and see what happens. For your pleasure and to satisfy your voyeuristic needs I will post my emails here and also the replies of the lovely(?) Yima.

BTW, this is nothing new, a lot of others have done this sort of thing in the past, just for fun and to waste a bit of the scammers time

First few emails follow, and I will update as we go along

For your reference here is a picture of what Yima is supposed to look like. My mission is to get this person to send me another picture as this one is probably a fake

After her initial letter and my response of ' please send more info" came this:

I am more than happy to read your intresting mail and
i hope that you are fine and healthy,As for me i am
doing great in every aspect of life,as i tood you I am
an IVORIAN but right now iam living in Senegal aslo in
west Africa,This is not my country iam living here as
a refugee but i know all the law of this contry
because the country is also a French speaking country
like my country COTE D'IVOIRE, I know deep down inside
that you will never break my heart or never let me
down in anyway,

I from the family of (late) Dr PATIRA DUFF was the assitant
personal advicer to GENERAL ROBERT GUEYE the former
militry ruler of COTE D'IVOIRE. But he was killed
along side with his military aides on the 19th SEPT
2002 during the begining of the civil strife between
the goverment and the rebels that have now engulfed
the whole country, and all our properties was totally
destroyed. However, af ter his death, I managed to
escape with very important documents which covers my
father's deposition of maney (US$ 7 5 Milion)U.S
Dollars deposited by my late father in a bank . which
he my name as the next of kin.

Meanwhile, still residing here as a refugee under the
UNITED NATIONS COUNCIL FOR REFUGEES, i am saddled with
the problem of securing a trust worthy foriegn
personality to help me transfer the fund from the
Finance security house to your possession pending my
arrival to meet with me for proper investments. I
need this to be done urgently because of the treats
that i am facing from my family members who are
treatening me with death seeking to know where this
funds was deposited in other to lay claim on it and to
reap from where they did not sow.
Furthermore,on your wish you can contact the bank for
confirmation and i will issue a letter of
authorisation on your name,that will enabl e them to
communicate directly with you on my behalf. I am
giving you this offer as mentioned with every
confidence on your acceptance to assist me retreive
the funds from the bank and transfer to your nominated
account.

you will not face any problem if this fund is
transfered to your account because i have all the
deposit documents and i have ask the bank about all
this and they told me that i have no problem that my
inherited fund is legal that all i need is a foreign
partner who will stand on my behalf and claim the fund
for me because of my refugee status which deneid me
access to my inheritance,

Yes you can do it legaly because all the deposit
documents is complete and the bank confirm it when i
contact them,I want to come over to live with you
after the transfer of the fund to your account because
i dont have parents or relations all my relations ran
away during the political crisis that lead to the
death of my belove parents,

I want to go back to school while you will be
managing the total fund into a business of your choice
until i conclud my edication and join you in the
business,I attach my picture and so that you will
know me more better,I will give you the bank contacts
on my next email so that you will contact them for the
transfer because i dont want to waist any
time in leaving Africa to purssue my future,
I will be waiting for your mail,

I did write back, didnt' keep a copy , and told her I would help. Also offered romance which I why I have gone from "Dear John" to " My Love"

the possibility of transfering this fund into your

and your contacts. i really appreciate your concern,
waiting for your urgent response so that we can
proceed.

wayyyyy funny...omg. me and my hubby do this sometimes with scammers, sometimes they get pretty funny.

This is what I wrote to Yima yesterday



My dearest Pumpkin,

I must confess to you that I have not told you the whole truth about myself :-( I cannot ring you as I cannot speak.

Several years ago I was involved in a major accident on a country road, which caused me to be thrown out of my tractor and into the bushes. The area was so remote that I was not found for 3 days. As I was unconscious for all this time the kangaroos and crocodiles started to feed on me and had eaten part of my throat which means that I will never be able to speak again.

Yima, this saddens me greatly as I will never be able to tell you how much I really do love you, this causes me great sadness and I hope that you will forgive me.

I will understand if you now do not want to be with me, but please realise that I will adore you forever and ever.

Is it possible we could continue, just by email? Is there any chance that we could still do this?


Even if you are so disgusted with me that you never write back again, then please just send me that picture that you promised so I can at least have some memories of you and as a lesson for my deceitfulness
