Excited to get back into saltwater aquariums after 8 years or so away. I'm back in Boston now and was hoping to get some thoughts on the best contained/lowest maintenance ~25-30 or so gallon reef system. Looking for something w/ cover, lighting, great filter/protein skimmer as part of system. All thoughts appreciated and hope to meet some Boston folks at some point down the road.

Welcome to 3reef! From what you are asking for, I think an AIO tank may be the way to go. You could do a JBJ 28 or a Biocube 29, to name a couple. Then you would just need a HOB skimmer.

Otherwise, go as large as you can with a drilled tank down to a sump. What are your stocking plans?

welcome to 3reef! I've always wanted to visit Boston. It looks like such a beautiful city!

I think Marshall's suggestion is a good one. Purchasing one of the all in one biocubes sounds like it will suit your needs that you described. There is a nano forum on here that you can get a ton of assistance I'm sure.
