    That 30 would be a great size for a sump. If you go at least 50% of the size of the display, it should be fine.

    i have a question about protein skimmers, ive noticed that most of the say that the are "up to" lets say 160gal. so meaning to say that if i purchase a skimmer that say "up to" would be fine for a 50 gal tank?

    I would buy one with the "up to" a little over the size of my aquarium. I have a 55 gal aquarium and bought a skimmer rated for "up to" 79 gal.

    Just depends on what you plan to do with the sump. Big fuge section? 30gal is plenty for a 50gal tank IMO.

    edit: What Mr Bill said. I didn't realize there was a page 2. Oops!

    as for skimmer I always had great success with my Reef Octopus I had on my 75g. I think you're putting too much thought in the skimmer. Just over shoot the minimum requirement by a little and you'll be fine.

    Coralife skimmers are not a good choice imo.Look into Reef Octopus.;)

    first of all i wanna thank you guys you have been great help thanks for the time! :)

    this is what im looking at also ofcourse in time i wanna get a bigger tank so i started to read on "up to" skimmers

    this is what im looking at now
