So I know this is probably a stupid question, but I've seen where stupid questions have smart answers. So I'm gonna ask. ;D

Is there any way to have an overflow style sump without drilling holes in the tank? I didn't want to do the 2 pump style fuge (where one pump fills the fuge while the other returns it) this just has a recipe for a flood, not to mention there is no way to get the flows to match exactly. I'm not even sure how this would work, just wondering if there was something out there I didn't know about. Maybe a pump that sucks at the same time it blows?

I have recently seen someone that had a hang on back fuge. I will look into those but was wondering if anyone knew of something.

    Thanks for the help.

My refugium is pump fed and gravity returned to my sump. It all depends on your space and design.

Many people tee off one of the DT drains and direct it to the refugium and then you can gravity feed the refugium back to your sump. Thus there is no need for an additional pump at all

I used to have a tank that wasn't "reef ready" and I tried many ways to get a working, efficient overflow. Eventually I got sick of it and upgraded to a "reef tank" with an overflow. I now use the old 90 gal. tank for my sump/fuge.

Try this link though, the method looks like the best option without having a reef ready tank.

Sorry I guess my question was a little confusing. Thanks for the help.

My question is more geared towards how to get the water down to the sump without fear of flooding or drilling holes in the tank. Is this what I'm looking for?

Sorry it won't give a direct link. It's under prefilter boxes, which is under products.

It looks like it's a hang on back overflow box. Am I looking at this correctly?
