My opinion is to get rid of the Wet/Dry Filter and just build a sump. I only use a Hang On Refugium, Three Power Heads, and a Hang on Protein Skimmer, I sadly do not have a Sump. Let the Live Rock do the work.

I recommend filling the chamber with good LR rubble in place of the bioballs. Will be a pod hotel in no time! I only run carbon as needed as it can strip the water of needed trace elements.

When your water is yellow and needs to be polished or when you think there may be chemical warfare being practiced by your soft corals - mushrooms, polyps, leathers.

No ...my waters pretty clear. What would be some of the signs of "Combat"?

Tissue recission, polyps (if applicable) not extending, etc.

Chemical warfare is soft corals only defense so they protect their little piece of the reef by sending out chemicals to try and keep other corals from encroaching on THEIR territory.

This can occur even when you clean your tank and accidently ittitate those liittle guys, but especially if you ever have to prune or frag them.

Will this Chemical warfare harm others in the tank?

Yes they are pretty nasty toxins and can if you have an allergy to them be harmful to you. Always wear gloves when working in your tank and in addition to gloves, protective eye wear when fragging. Palytoxins can be as dangerous as snake bites.
