I just purchased a Neon yellow Goniopora (short armed) and slowly acclimatized it. It has been placed in the tank for 3 hrs now. It is a medium light and medium flow zone. I am just wondering when to start worrying if it is opened or not? I understand this is a difficult coral to take care of. Water params are great. Please let me know your thoughts!

Give it a couple of days to acclimate before worrying.

Goniopora won't usually open up fully for a day or two, at least.

I personally prefer to slightly overkill the acclimation on these, they seem to be easy to melt with excess light.

The polyps are crowning slightly and more and more appear to be slightly elongating. In med light (I dimmed them a bit too) and I turned one of the power heads against the skimmer so the alternating current is indirect... Still waiting, watching, and hoping... Keep you posted!

Each flower seems to have about 20 tentacles. Is that an indicator of anything? It still hasn't opened! The polyps seem to be extending and then retracting again. They are the furthest out today that I have seen them so far. Day 2!
