Temp goes from 79 in the morning to about 81 with the T5s on. This episode is really turning me against any more corals. May stick with fish only.

Water is cloudy because I just finished a water change. The sand gets stirred up pretty good. I always thump the hydrometer a few times to make sure there are no bubbles. SG is 1.024. I drip acclimate my fish but I didn't with the corals. The guy said no need to do it with corals. That just might be my main problem.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I have never drip acclimate a coral or fish in my life.

Do not give up on corals because of this, one bad experience is nothing trust me.

The zoanthids and kenya tree and mushrooms should come around.

Is there any way for you to check stray voltage although that is a long shot.

I'm not an electrician. Never checked electricity in water before.

it's simple man, same concept as on land if you're familiar with basic elec. either borrow a voltmeter or get a cheap basic one from harbor freight or wherever. Set it to AC volts and stick the tips in the water. You'll pick up micro volts in the hundredths or thousandths especially if you are close to a power head. And then do the same with DC volts. Now I'm fairly new to this hobby but I would say anything more than .25 volts will stress things out. Don't quote me on it but I'm sure some of the veterans of this hobby here know much more than me on the specific numbers.

I'll check it tomorrow. Pretty sure my father in law has one I can use.

Done some water test tonight. Ammonia and Nitrites are at 0. Nitrates were somewhere between 5 and 10 ppm. First time I've ever had any nitrates. PH is around 8. Trying to buff that up some to around 8.2. Corals still not opening.
