new coral vue T-5 kits

I want to know about the output, the same Q as Matt. Would consider as an option for a 250 gallon - 96"L x 36"W x 20"T tank.

 

The T-5 is 54 watts but that is a deceptive number. THe lumen output is 3 times moret than a 110 Watt VHO or 96 watt PC. Plus the T-5's hold there spectrum and intensity. longer than PC'S or VHO

 

A good combination with MHs? T-5 actinics better than VHOs?

 

I would say so. Longer specteral life. Smaller. You can fit more in the same space and 3 times the lumens!!! They All add up to one great system.

What do you feel is the optimum luminal lifetime of T5s, VHos and PCs Darin?

 

Do T-5s need to be suspended above the tank the way MH lights do?

 

The retro kits do; its the only way to mount them, Coralvue is also coming out with some T-5 hoods similar to what a PC hood woud be. THese will be able to set right on the tank.
