    Check out these new T-5 retro kits Retail will be $150 for the 2 bulb a 4 bulb will be availible soon. The ballast is bulit into the retro kit!!!

    Nice, I like it. Good price point as well.  The ballast is built in, so what, in the middle up top?  Can it be removed for remote operation?

    Yes the ballasts is on top. You should be able to remove it for remote operation. It was made so there was no wiring required. Just take it out of the box and put the bulbs in and turn it on..

    I like them alot. I was very skeptical at first but a friend of mine runs some over his 75 and his SPS growth is awesome and so are the colors. Plus the bulbs last alot longer! I do think they are not for deeper tanks over 20" though.

    I had the same thought about deep tanks, figured it would be like PCs in that regard.

    Are the bulbs more expensive than PCs?

    Well a 96 watt PC bulb is $45 and a 48" t-5 bulb is $28 so they are cheaper.
