New coral reef discovered off coast of Phang-nga, Thailand

Well it's not all bad news with the ocean. A new coral reef was recently discovered off the coast of Phang-nga, a province of Thailand. The new reef called "E-tan Rock" covers over 118 acres at 25 meters deep from the surface. A biologist involved in this initial survey sees potential for this reef to become a new diving spot.

I skipper a reef snorkeling charter boat in Key West and let me tell you divers and snorkelers muck up corals, sometimes I wish people would keep quiet about new spots like this. Won't be pristine for long.

 

That is something I struggled with when posting this.

 

While it does suck that this has hit the news just for the fact of it being ruined before it even takes off. However it is good to finally see some good news regarding reefs in the wild. If they were smart the Thailand government would put some kind of restrictions in place to help the reef before it gets overtaken.

 

wth the part about "new diving spot" wow just wow , at least let it age man
