    Me setup

    Me aquarium is running since May 4 2010. It's a 31g. I have a fluval 205 canister, a Coralife 65g protein skimmer, a power head + heater.

To set the biological cycle, I have put 40 pounds of live rocks, then wait for about a week before introducing me first clown fish. Unfortunately they died after only 3 days. I brought water to test it at the pet shop, and the employee tell me that the KH was to high, I didn't knew about that value.

So I took the stuff to slowly adjust the KH. Then bought two other Clowns fishs, one of them died again. I hadn't thrown the towel though, I bought another clown fish, a Blue demoisel, some snail and a "Bernard l'hermitte". Since then everybody it still alive.

I had trouble to setin properly the skimmer but yesterday it finally worked as expected.

I keep you inform if I have other troubles.

The first thing I suggest is getting your own test kits. I have a feeling that you haven't finished your cycle yet which is causing your fish to die. The dKH shouldn't affect the fish health much if at all. That is a parameter best tested when you have some hard corals. I would stop adding anything new to the tank for a while, let things settle in and test the water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph, at least to begin with.

I had me own test kits, but I wasn't aware of KH value before. I had done PH test (around 8.2) Amonia, nitrite (around 0), salinity (1024) and KH (more than 31 drops). I still not able to lower the KH value.

    Cyano problem and Snail dying

    Hi,

I have a cyano problem and me snails keep dying. Here is me values:

KH (37 drops), PH 8.4, Nitrite 0, Alk 3.6, Density 1021, 30G tank running since almost 2 mounts.

I have 40 pounds of live rocks, 2 Clown fishs, 1 Demoiselle, 1 yellow wrasse and around 10 Mexican Red legs crabs.

What can I do to get rid of the cyano and keep me snail in life?

    Thanks
