I am finally going to leave it on the sand, i put a flat piece of plastic under the clam so it can grab on to that.dont have to much live rock so i dont see a diffrence if i put him up there plus he already fell over a few times from the live rock. Ill wait the 10 days and see what happens. He now opens up but not fully.just enough to stick the mantel to the edge of the shell.
I hope i can get him to open up. Ill post pics once I do 8)

thank you ever one for your help ;D

how big is your clam? i have read that smaller clams are more likely to need supps like phyto because smaller clams arent able to live on light alone. especially if its not really good light. good luck. clams are cool

Kent's Phytoplex is dead phytoplankton and is not as good as live phytoplankton for a clam that small.

I'm wondering what kind of plastic you put in the tank under the clam?

I'm not sure if that plastic is "reef safe" and if it isn't, chemicals from that cup might end up leeching into your water. Also, keep in mind that if you've got a crocea clam, they are rock boring clams and kinda need something more solid to "dig into". If you've got a flat piece of live rock or a shell, go ahead and put the clam on that instead :)
