I just got a new clam yesterday, a crocea I think, and I just need some advice on how to keep him alive.

I have a small one about 2-3 months ago and it died so I am a bit nervous with this one.

He is about 4''-5'' and its open now, I have him on the sand bed on the left side of the tank in a lower flow, kinda lower light area.

Do they need high flow, lot of light, and what do you do to feed them? do they really need to be fed or can they catch stuff on their own while I feed the other fish? I tried to put a piece of krill in there last night but he kept spitting it out....I've only had it for not even a day now, but want to do the right things with this one.

Any advice or help is appreciated!
    Thanks!

    My lighting is good...2 - 250w MH plus 2 55w PC's to supplement.

I think I may move him up a bit just to be safer.

Croceas require the most light of any tridacnid clam, so keep it in a high light area.

I am going to move him up about half way in my tank under a 250w MH.

Also that is a great article Dingo!!!

I thought I would have to target feed this clam all the time but according to that article thats not the case....no feeding required!
