    It doesn't look like that from too much light. When you were purchasing it, did the clerk have to work real hard to remove it from their tank? I'm wondering if they ripped off it's byssal threads.

    To be honest with you, I would bag that puppy up and see if they'll exchange it before all you have is an empty shell.
