Hi all new here. From IL. 23 years old. Been into reefn for about 6 months have already upgraded from 15 gal to 55gal. It was a african tank, couldn't take it anymore. Here are some pics. The small one is my old 15gal. The big one is my 55 gal now. The brain and the sps are my two favorite coral. Alos the big beautiful zoa colony was my first coral. It was recently attacked by something. I isolated it and dipped it 6 times in lugols iodine over the last two weeks, just put it back in my main tank. It is doing WAY better. I did cut off the dead ones.

Salutations! Glad to see you found way here!

Question whether "attacked" or have another problem. That is quite a coral mix in a 55 gal.

Try moving Zoa's to elsewhere in tank.

Also increase amount/frequeny of water changes. - You are going to have some serious chemical warfare going on in tank.

Keep eye out for sundial snails. Deadly on zoa's and often hitchhike in. Hard to see.

Also would be very cautious about adding fish except over long period of time.

    Good looking tank.

    Keep us posted.

Tanks for the input. I had them alone, away from everyone. I was doing water changes and went through a lot of possible problems. No other zoas were affected. I believe it was a parisite. I thought of the snail thing, but never seen any, and no one else was effected. So, isolated them and treated, they got better. I would cut off the dead ones, like a cancer of some sort. I'm not worried anymore. I not seeing to much of a "chemical warfare" but will keep my eyes open. Usually the only problem I have with that, is if the corals are touching.

    I am running 4 24" 24 watt t5 2 10k 2 actinic, 4x48" 54 watt t5 1 10k 1 18k 2 actinic all ho. No individual reflectors.

    1 fluval 205, ehiem ecco 45, super skimmer 65, 2 kolaria 1s stealth heater.
80+ lbs lr, 75 lbs sand, 25+ various hermits, 20+ various snails, sally lightfoot, emerald, counch, peppermint, cleaner, fire red, coral banded shrimps. Then all the coral, and 6 sixline, pair purple fire fish (kinda a pair, at night only) 3 stripped and blue damsels, orange spotted goby. two stars the big red one and a torny red one.

    coral list:

15 small (30 polyp) to large 200+ zoa colonies
    1 large closed brain
    1 small opened brain
    1 monti cap
    1 birds nest???? SPS
    1 candy cane
    1 4 polyp galaxia
    4 various rics
    1 9 ric rock
    1 thomas ric
    2 red, 2 aqua, shroom
50+ on two different rocks bullseye shroom
24 on a rock purple with blue spotts shroom
    5 fuzzy shroom
    1 green hairy shroom
    1 frogspawn
3 different kinds of gsp lots of it lotssss
    1 maxi clam
11 different types of large button polyps lots of those too 11 different colonies

That might be it. I had a lot shroom in my 15 gal but sold them to help fund for lr in my 55 gal. I really don't have good luck with shrooms. They grow really well, but only look good a day or two out of the week. I was just tired of fight with them concerning current and lighting. I really love ZOAS and am going to fill this tank with them.
