Im not an acrylic pro, but maybe its not exactly acrylic? Maybe the PVC bottom has something to do with it? I just find it hard to believe that such a reputable company wouldn't take the above situation into consideration. Personally, Im convinced they know what they are doing.

pvc and acrylic are different forms of plastic yet have the same type of bonding characteristics. keep in mind there is a difference between bonding and sealing.

The bottom is CNC'd with a channel that goes around the base of the tank, this gives the sides more bonding surface for their proprietary glue to bond to. The overflow box is glued to the back of the glass, its Cell Cast Acrylic. I agree with you, that after a couple of decades of building, also take into consideration they make these tanks in huge sizes too, for restaurants, casinos, stores, zoos, etc....

I think you should email the manufacturer and ask these questions instead of derailing my tank thread, trying to tell me things I obviously wouldnt try on my own. I built my first tank out of acrylic, I didnt like how it scratched, so I went with the low iron glass. Man, if I was concerned with the bond of my tank, obviously I got over it, because I purchased this one. This is in the tank thread forum, not the DIY, so why dont you stop trying to make me out as a lame-O who spent a ton of money on something that is going to fail. Just to show you I kind of research my stuff, and didnt just have money and toss it together, i'll show you my nano...my 60 and my new AGE again

BTW, a perfectly level stand will go a long way towards the integrity of a tank. The majority of tanks with blowouts are because a tank isnt level. I've seen 1" acrylic bow and blow a seam on a tank, because he didnt level out the stand when he had the tank on it.
