    hello folks,

im looking to get an estimate of my tank turn over, not having fully understood how this is calculated i turn to you....

I currently have two main powerheads in my system, a tunze that states 6500 L/h that turns on for 10 seconds and stays off for 10 seconds
and a newave set for 9700 L/h that turns on for 35 seconds and stays off for 35
seconds. Together with this I have my return that I estimate is running at around 900 L/h (controled by a ball valvle and its a wild guess).

almost forgot this is in a 450 litre tank but with rock work i think should be around 400 mybe 380

thank you for baring with me
    Jeff

FWIW, turnover = liters per hour of all things moving water, divided by the volume of your tank.

For example, if you have 1200L/h movement in a 60 liter tank, you have 20X turnover.

    Here's the math I used:
    Tunze: 6500/2= 3,250 L/H
    Newave: 9700/2= 4,850 L/H
    Return: 900 L/H
    3,250+4,850+900=9,000 (total flow)
    9,000L/H divided by 400L= 22.5/H
Just a breakdown of what VA said.
