    With these types of nems it's important to scrub them thoroughly because if you leave just a little bit then they will grow back. The ones in the reef tank normally are under the shaded area of rocks so I don't experience much trouble from them. Every now and then one will get big enough to where it could threaten a coral, then I scrub it off. If you can't remove the rock try and hold a siphon next to the area your scrubbing during a water change.

    Populations tend to increase with over feeding.

    if they didn't hurt anything in my tank, I'd keep them :)
