Need Ideas after big over sight

    That is another great Idea. But sound expensive. But again it would be the safest.

    Ok I'm going to look for both Check Valve and solenoid

    Thanks Matt, I guess you could also connect the solenoids to some sort of float ( or flow ) switch to take care of pump failures etc ( non power issues )

    Should work fine, you would just need to put a bend in the small piece of tubing ( at least 90o ) or you could end up with a bit of a fountain :)

    But just thinking a bit further, it would still allow the water to run down the return pipe, wouldn't it?

    Jason,

    Have you considered using the return holes for a closed loop system instead?

    Ya that was also suggested. The tank is only a 40G and I was attempting to eliminate the need for power heads and what not. to create a closed loop and have returns may be over kill. But it's looking more and more like I made a huge mistake.

    I'm trying to get my head around Flech's Idea. It has also been suggested but If I were to run a air line to the surface and 90 it would that be enough to break the siphon. Or would there be well aerated water all over my floor?
