    There are risks to using natural seawater. Depending on where you live, you risk adding pollutants and harmful organisms (of course you could add beneficial organisms too). I have also read that natural seawater needs to be changed out more often than synthetic because it chemically and biologically "dies" more quickly than synthetic. It also exhausts its buffering capacity faster.
