    Hey Everyone,

I just bought a HOB Aquafuge Refugium (Large- 25.5"L x 4.5"W x 12"T) and I am looking for a good light for it.

I was thinking about getting a 24" LED light fixture, but wasn't sure what would work best. My other thought was to just get the Aquafuge specific light.

Any thoughts on what would be best?

    Thanks

I use a 5100k led from home depot , grows chaeto like a champ.

Is it a strip light or just a standard LED bulb with a fixture? I think I would prefer something that fits over the entire top...

    It's a flood light , not a strip.

Gotcha. I would prefer a strip variety because it is 25" L and it sits right behind my DT. So with a flood light it will bounce light into the DT and I plan to run my refugium light on a reverse cycle to my daylights to stabilize ph.

Anybody have thoughts on a good strip light? Will a marineland 24" double bright LED fixture work well?

Unfortunately, it looks like they may be too short to hang on the ends of the refugium since it is 25"L.

Are there any other fixtures other than these and marineland that would work well? Also, is there a specific amount of light that needs to be provided for a refugium?

I bought a clip on LED from E-Bay that only puts out like 2 watts and has blue, red, green and white led's that have individual switches for my 13" HOB fuge, does the job. Also the reef capable marineland grows chaeto like there is no tomorrow! Not bright enough for hard coral but great for chaeto! I have one on my 30 gal fuge for the 55 gallon.

This one will work as well.

I just looked at the marineland fixtures and they are 7 inches wide, while the refugium is on 4.5. So those look like a no go. The finnex that you mentioned would work, but I worry about the light reflection into the display at night, plus I would probably need 2 of them.

Any strip lights that would be skinnier and would fit 25.5" L? Thoughts on using a T5?
