Ok I'm new to saltwater aquariums and my tank has been running for about a month and a half with two true percula clownfish and a rose bubble tip anenome being in there for a week. I've noticed some life on my live rocks and need a little help with what exactly they are. The first pics are of algae.. or coral.. not sure.. and the last is some sort of worm. This is probably a dumb question to everyone else but I'm a newbie who's learning as much as I can. Thanks in advance! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Heather,

I see a feather duster, possible sponge, some type of either zoanthids or palys ( polyps) and a bristleworm ( good guy), in that order.

    Looks like:
    1) Mini Feather Duster
    2) a sponge ?
    3) Zoanthids
    4) ?
    5) Bristle worm

By the way, anems are pretty hard for a beginner, I would have waited.

This is a good and interesting link, if you want to look around at the common hitch-hikers.

1st and last are worms, fan worm and bristle worm. Both good guys to have. The third is a sponge of some sort again harmless, it's a filter feeder. Fourth may be a zoa can't really tell, and the fifth I'm not sure of but maybe a sponge as well.

I agree, the sponge may be a Scypha sponge, but I can't tell from the photo.

This is a Scypha sponge (note: image taken from Melev's reef Melevsreef.com - Scypha Sponge)

The sponge thing looks close. But mine looks like a little tree almost. And I may be a beginner but I read up on everything for my anenome's care before getting one.
