Hey Joer, If you can put the four in now. ive got 3 400w MH and by the end of the day temps gone up 4 degrees to 82 not bad but summers not quite here yet so im going to go w/2 more before heat kicks in
im only going to have 2 250w and 2 VHO or PC strips but i guess 4 cant hurt. Also my LFS says i dont need a plastic guard between the bulbs and the water and you guys say the same thing about the MH lights but what about the fluorescent lights.
Yeah that's fine, just get waterproof endcaps.
ok thanks. glad because i figure the light would look better w/o the plastic. was just a little worried, i know the water in new york has shards of glass in it but if i wasn't looking to reproduce NY water. i guess if i was i would also have to put an old tire, a plastic bag, styrofoam cup, and an old syringe in my tank too. LOL
Not to get too off track, but I know of somebody in NY with a tank like that! He has broken bottles in his. heh.
you know now that i think about it, done right, that might actually look nice. Its certainly unique
how is this retrofit kit
MH retrofit kit
or these real cheap but are they crap MH retrofit kit 2
First one is too much money and uses the old style bulbs. Second one is ok if you are a DIY guy but comes with crap bulbs and no reflector.
Look at some of the threads in the lighting board and the links page for more ideas.
thanks Matt. i looked at the other treads i came across this link MH lights or this (under the retrofit systems the 4' 2 MH/PC set up w/ the icecap 175w ballest upgrades)MH lights 2
whats ya think
