    Jim -- sure you can do that. Just remove all contents (except act char).

    Craig---right again bro. A simple (maybe even cheaper) way to cycle is to buy a small uncycled live rock. To make sure it will cycle a tank, keep it dry for about an hour or two then place it in the tank.

    Some use shrimp bits or small dead oyster. Personally I just do the dead piece of Live Rock.

    btw I also did use bacterial aids for cycling. Actually worked for me! but I was not setting a new tank but a migrated tank.
