I just read this too in a book I've been enjoying tonight. To reduce nitrates and phosphates. Well I felt intrigued by this and though I'd give ol' 3reef a search. Poof, vodka posts. The book im reading, The Reef Aquarium Vol3, even reports polyp expansion in softies (Mrutzek and Kokott, 2004)! I'm almost curious enough to try it! I'm not ordering a RO/DI until Friday and am currently running a canister filter with Phosphate Sponge to remove that evil PO4 ::) The idea is the ethanol stimulates bacteria growth that uses NO4 and PO4 and may also be a suppliment to the polyps. 5-10mL / 1 day / 260 gallons.

    Interesting doctor jones!
