Definitely test the water your making. In a 10 gallon tank WC should be all you need. 3 gallon weekly should be good. Coral pro has higher levels than reef crystals but your numbers should be higher using reef crystals. Make up some new water and test it, go from there.

    Thank you so much.
I am definitely going to test my made up water, then do a 3g wc, and test then.

It is so true that each tank is different:) i have 2 and only 2 mnths apart in age and both are different

Same with the reef tank and my wife's tank. It's crazy how different one is from the other as far as keeping a coral in one but the same coral won't survive in hers. Then I have a chalice that won't color up in the reef tank but in her tank it colors up amazingly. If your looking for higher numbers as far as the big 3 go I'd seriously consider coral pro salt.

Coral pro isn't available locally, I've never seen it anywhere.
The only thing I see is IO and maybe Kent

Io reef crystals will have to do because not only do I have 2 large bags but I really can't see it being the salt as A LOT of ppl use io crystals with no issues. In the past the numbers were bang on using this salt.

Ok. Mixed up my water and tested.

    Mag 1110
    Alk 7.8
    Ca 400

Thats low in my opinion for reef crystals. I'm going to let the water mix for hrs and re test.
If its still low, I suspect I will have to dose cause trying to get other brands of salt is pretty dicey...the one store that sold the different brands just closed its doors:( and I don't care for kents salts.

That mag is way low. I second chris, what's the salt gravity. Also, I order coral pro off amazon.

    "sorry quick hijack"
DSC.. On the Coral Pro does 2.5 cups per 5gl give you 1.026? Picked some up the other night want to give it a try finally.
Like that it mixes up at higher levels

It does chris, that's how I mix mine. Make sure the ro is nice and cool and don't mix over 4 hours. It will crystal clear in about 20 minutes, I use mine within the hour. I'll never switch again.
