    I don't think its dino. IME dino grows really fast and it looks more like pickupman's photos. Although there are a lot of different kinds of dino so its not impossible. Cyano will blow off with a turkey baster. So give that a whirl and see if that might be it.

    Great. I don't think that's it. In fact, it hasn't done anything, even since increasing light to the area. Whatever it is I think it's dead.

    looks like a sponge to me but by all means I may be worng. do try siphoning it, if it strings out while you do so then it may indeed be cyano, though iv never seen a brown one like that.

    actually nvm the growth seems to kind of "plate" in your picture, the sponges iv seen dont seem to do that.

    and this is what i mean....

    It could be some sort of brown sponge? I have seen many colors and they act just like you described. They will incrust an area then just sit there and do nothing. I would reach in and touch it. What does it feel like?
