I've had my 2" long tridacna squami for about a year now. I had him in my 90 gal community LR F and coral tank. This morning I woke up to see nothing more than one shell. Can't even find the other shell. Would either of these fish be the suspect: Niger Trigger (suspect no. 1), Yellow tang, Cole tang, Hippo Tang, Perc clown, YWG? I pissed to say the least! He was doing great.:cry::confused:

But after a year why now?

Niger trigger sounds like the likely suspect to me.

Sounds like it came attached to a shell and it dropped it. It would be impossible for it to survive losing a shell.

The shell must be from another source. He has both his shells intact. I did drop in some clam shells a while ago that I picked up from Galveston TX beach after I bleached them.

I just found him totally cleaned out! Not a mistake this time. The shell is perfectly clean. His shell was lying right in front of the YWG lair where I suspect I have either a pistol shrimp, or less likely a mantis. I have come to this conclusion because the lair is more like the entrance to a crab leg, shell, graveyard. Also, I hear snapping every night. Could the YWG have dragged the clam closer to his lair to allow for the shrimp to devour him? Or could it still be the Niger Trigger as suspect no. 1? I can't believe how clean the shell is once again. A combination of fish, hermits, and bristle worms more than likely?

    Thanks.
