I just picked up this deresa clam yesterday. This is my second clam. I have a crocea and wanted more clams and came across this one for a decent price. I spent yesterday acclimating him to my water and added it last night. I still will give it a few days to adjust and then I will post an updated picture. I didnt want to post without a photo and have the pic police come knocking.:)

Thanks. It looks really good in person. Even though they dont move or grow real fast my 2 clams are my favorite inhabitants. I would be devestated if they were to die.

HAHA, well we are ever so cautious with our maxima. I suppose we'll both feel better after a few months, right? ;D

Yeah hopefully, but even after having my crocea for almost a year and a half I still worry about it. Its one of the things I use as an indicator for overall tank conditions. Do you have a pic of your maxima? If so post it.

Are you positive that is a derasa?

Looks more like a crocea to me.

Yes, it looks completely different than my crocea. Croceas I believe have a rough almost plate type shell and the deresas have a smoother shell. I also looked online and it looked like alot of the deresas I saw, but not like any of the croceas. I am willing to accept the mis id an my part if any of the clam people can show me a crocea that looks like it.
