I'd try to get some fan action on that to help keep it cool. A 12v 2" small fan would due wonders. The constant bending will lead to breaking at some point down the road. Could take a long time though, many factors in that one. Main point, be concerned, but not worried. Take some preventitve action soon and it will be totally fine IMO.

Nice! Will a 12" high tank be better than taller tanks? I think shallow tanks will allow cheaper lights to be installed. But hey I guess you got it right from the start as you're using MH! a bonafide expert! ;)

12" is better for light penetration, even though I won't have a problem with that. Shallow is typically best for a propigation/frag tank, better use of the light. It also lends itself to cheaper lights, as you said. I myself, prefer to use MH, due to me getting all my frags from people with MH, and this pendant is so darn nice looking. I thought about 6 - 8 t5s, but they'll put out more light per lumen, then this pendant, and cost more to buy.

Gresham...you will get great growth out of the corals but for selling reasons...I would add some actinics. I am not sure if you have seen tanks with only 65K bulbs but the corals usually look a little dull. Brighten them corals up with some actinics and you should be set.

Your not sure if I've seen tanks with just a 6.5k MH on it, uh, what? The tanks up and running, so, yah, I've seen it ;) It looks nothing like any other bulb! Follow the links I provided, the par being at 96 brings the colors out like you wouldn't belive. Selling reasons,? Lie I said above, this is not a business, this is for personal consumption. I manage a marine ornamental wholesale facility, I have no need to sell frags on the side, besides, I'd loose money growing frags to sell in Cali with our power costs these days!

Lighiting at many levels, is a personal preference. Some prefer a unnatural actininc enhanced look, while others prefer a more natural look.

    First thing...for you being a moderator...your a little to mouthy!  [smiley=toilet.gif]

Secondly, a PAR of 96 <DON'T USE THAT LANGUAGE ON THIS FORUM> is that?  Most PAR ratings are well above 300.   I didn't see where you said that you were not selling....so back off!

Finally, an "unnatural reef", again <DON'T USE THAT LANGUAGE ON THIS FORUM> is that?  I assume you have never been diving with those stupid comments.  I will attach two pictures of the GBR at 25', and you tell me if they look like 65K to you!
No, no business at home, just a hobby.  I can't do a huge tank right now, so I'll just start my corals for now, and move up later.  I have SOOOO many people to frag from around here, I'm loosing out by not having any space :)
Yup, those look very similiar to my new lamp ;)  Nope, they don't look like 65,000k to me ;) I've been a PADI divemaster for 15 years now with countless hours of bottom time.

Craig- Haven't started the move yet, I hope too soon.

Sorry, a CRI of 96 ;) and from looking at the PAR graph at 9", it looks like it peeks at around 1200 - 1300 PAR.
