my lighting and sps

    all clams natural enviornments are on the sandbed. the rocks imo are unnatural for a clam and if it decides to move and it falls it might cause havoc to the rock structure and any corals below it

    I am somewhat confused. Perhaps just me, but an open brain is an LPS (large polyp stoney coral)

    Your current lighting is more than sufficient to keep LPS. You could also keep a clam. Start with a Derasa as they are hardier, require less intense lighting and less expensive. Try to get one at least 2 inches in size or larger.

    Maxima and Crocea are rock boring clams. Derasa and Squamosa live on the substrate.

    i stand corrected, but that is not my point exactly, i dont believe his light would be enough for a clam.

    So the brain being on the sand is fine? he seems to be doing fine I just wanted to make sure :)
