Hey everyone. Thanks for checking out my first tank build. This will be a mixed reef with a few fish. Dont have anything set in stone for what's going in there yet. The tank is 75 gallons, drilled for (2) 3/4 inch return nozzles and a 700 gph glassholes overflow box. Bought off Craigslist from a local reefer. 1404694863741.jpg
I need to do my plumbing yet. This tank used to be part of a 500 gallon system so I will need to make a few changes in the return Plumbing and drill a hole through the cabinet for the drain pipe. 1404695210662.jpg
I just hung my led lights tonight. I am running 2x Budget Reefer 120 watt leds. Also a good deal off craigslist. A guy from Green Bay sells these. Ive seen them on a couple tanks and they will have no problem growing sps corals from what ive been told.

I took advantage of the petco dollar per gallon sale. Picked up a 40g breeder and built my own sump/refugium. The baffles are over, under, over and are a little over a inch apart. For my skimmer i went with the Tunze DOC 9410. From reading reviews, it sounds like a solid skimmer. The return pump is a mag drive 7. Also the return section will be topped off by the Tunze osmolator ato.Heater is ehiem jager 200w. Still need a in tank thermometer. 1404695607137.jpg

Thats all i have for now. Still doing a ton of reading. Just ordered a BRS RODI unit and have 75 lbs of dry rock and sand on the way. I have a ton of questions when it comes time to actually get the tank running. Thanks for stopping in. Feel free to comment and give me advice. I need it!

    Nice start :)

I would paint the side panel as I wouldnt want to see the pipework but thats just me and its a lot harder to do when its full.

Thats a good skimmer to start off with too :)

What stock do you plan on keeping?

Thanks for stopping in everyone. Alright I have done a few things since last update. Here goes. Last weekend I Finished the plumbing on the tank. I used 3/4 in. flex pvc for the return and solid 1 1/2 in. pvc for drain. I'm going to try and paint that drain tube black or somehow make it prettier. 20140713_172548.jpg 20140713_172653.jpg Plumbing tip of the day. When you plumb a union, make sure the threaded cap is on your pipe before you glue. As you can see I did not do this. Lol. 20140713_172732.jpg
Leveled the tank. I used metal shims. 20140716_200854.jpg Next up i put my rock and sand in. Most of my base rocks were cut flat on the bottom so i didnt put any eggcrate down. 40 lbs sand and 80lbs rock. 20140718_064706.jpg 20140718_064638.jpg Ok so thats the update. Right now i am filling the tank. The new rodi unit works great. I also have 2 koriala evolution 1500 powerheads on the way. I Still have to find a nice storage container for my ato water that can sit next to the stand and look decent. I'll do a mini update when the tank is full. Again, thanks for stopping in. Getting excited to start the cycling the tank! We can talk about a stocking list soon.

I can't tell from the angle of you pictures, but are your baffles in you sump all in at an angle?
